COVID-19 Updates

Last updated 11/24/20

As the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to expand, the health and safety of The Allsup Company community remain our highest priority. We are closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation.

We will share updates to our service and policies here to ensure that clients can get the help they need and that HandyFriends have appropriate guidance and support to complete projects — safely and effectively — during these challenging times.

The Allsup Company Health & Safety Standard

To use The Allsup Company, you agree to follow standards for a healthy and safe environment shared by everyone in our community:

  • Opt for contactless projects and keep at least 6 feet/2 meters of physical distance from others at all times.

  • For in-person projects, confirm you have not had COVID-19, related symptoms, or known exposure to anyone with COVID-19. If you have, be sure to comply with all local health authority quarantine timelines before using The Allsup Company.

  • Wear a face covering during the project.

  • Sanitize your hands and all high-touch surfaces and items before, during, and after the project.

  • Follow all applicable public health guidelines and regulations.

What We're Doing to Keep Our Community Safe

The Allsup Company is here to help the community. We are committed to keeping our platform open to allow HandyFriends and clients to connect for services according to government authorities' guidance.

Waiving Cancellation Fees Due to Illness

We will waive cancellation fees for all clients who cancel a project within 24 hours of the scheduled start time due to illness. To make a change to your project, visit the My Account section of The Allsup Company website.

Suppose you're a HandyFriend who cannot complete a scheduled project because of illness. In that case, there will be no impact on your business metrics, including declining a project if you believe that your client is ill or that completing the project would jeopardize your health.

Contactless Projects

As restrictions are lifted across regions and cities, we ask The Allsup Company community to remain mindful of all public health guidance and regulations in your area, significantly since they may change from one day to the next. If your site allows in-person contact, please feel free to engage in these Projects. However, if a project can be done in a contactless or virtually, we encourage clients and HandyFriends to work together to take these precautions.

A contactless project maintains a social distance of at least 6 feet/2 meters from another person. For example, a client can request that a HandyFriend delivering food or medications leave them in a safe place at the door.

A furniture or fitness equipment assembly project can also be contactless, with the assembly in a separate room. Instructions for contactless projects can be indicated in the booking details and via The Allsup Company chat.

HandyFriends: See here for additional guidance.

Virtual Tasks

Clients may also request that a project be done virtually via chat in any category. For example, suppose a client would like to consult with a HandyFriend about data entry or assembling a piece of furniture. In that case, they could book a personal assistant or furniture assembly project, and a HandyFriend can consult with the client virtually.

HandyFriends: See here for additional guidance.

Free Volunteer Help through Projects for Good

Projects for Good connects vulnerable individuals and organizations in need with local volunteers who donate their time and skills to support their communities. To learn more about the program, including eligibility and availability in your city, visit here.

Service Modifications

General Marketplace Service Modifications

We are committed to keeping our platform open to provide services under all local, state, and federal guidelines. Therefore, we ask that all clients and HandyFriends stay abreast of COVID-19-related requirements in their area and refrain from submitting or accepting job requests that violate applicable government requirements or guidance.

Furniture and Fitness Equipment Assembly Service Modifications

We will advise on a region-by-region basis if any modifications are required to the furniture and fitness equipment Assembly service.

Clients can make changes to bookings via My Account on AllsupCompany.com. Clients should work with their HandyFriend to ensure compliance with local authorities' guidelines.

All US cities are now eligible to have furniture and fitness equipment assemblies booked. We ask that clients and HandyFriends collaborate to follow local health guidelines during all projects.

Responsible Information Sharing

Suppose a client or a HandyFriend tells us that they have been diagnosed with or have some symptoms consistent with COVID-19. In that case, we may contact other users we believe they have been in contact with so those other users can take appropriate steps to safeguard their health and the health of those around them.

Equally, if a client or a HandyFriend expresses a concern that another user may have COVID-19, we will contact that other user and update the client or HandyFriend who raised the question on the response we receive. We may temporarily pause the accounts of users diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19, consistent with public health quarantining guidelines.

Please see here for more information on how we generally use personal information and how you can exercise your rights over your personal information.
